Objective:By comparing the gingival damage and effects of several gingival retraction materials(15.5%Fe2(SO4)3?0.1 %EpinephrineHcl?0.05%OxymetazolineHcl?gingival retraction paste-Expasyl) is commonly used in clinical. Select the best material of the comprehensive properties for clinical application.Methods:According to the choose requirements of the subjects, fifty maxillary first premolar of twenty-five students coming from Binzhou medical university, randomly divided into five groups, respectively was displaced with retraction cords immersed in solutions (15.5%Fe2(SO4)3?0.1%EpinephrineHcl?0.05%Oxymetazoline Hcl?normal saline ) and gingival retraction paste-Expasyl. According to the requirements of the specification, the displacement time of cords was ten mines, paste was two mines.We assessed the degree of gingival inflammation by collecting and testing the GCF and GCF-AST before the retraction and first day, third day ,fifth day, seventh day,ninth day after removal the materials.To compare the retraction effects of the five gingival retraction materials. 100 prosthodontics with 80 patients underwent single crown prosthodontics were randomly divided into five groups,respectively was displaced with retraction cords immersed in solutions (15.5%Fe2(SO4)3?0.1%EpinephrineHcl?0.05%Oxymetazoline Hcl?normal saline ) and gingival retraction paste-Expasyl. Treatment effect,periodontal healthy index(GI), subjective feeling before and after treatment in different times were compared.Results:1. GCF changes: Compared with the base value of before the retraction. The retraction cords were up to the peak at one day after retraction, paste was up to peak at three day after retraction 15.5%Fe2(SO4)3 and 0.1 %EpinephrineHcl returned to normal level at seven day after the cords were removal, 0.05%OxymetazolineHcl and normal saline recovered more quickly ,after retraction five day can be recovered. The GCF of paste slowly rising and falling. 15.5%Fe2(SO4)3 and 0.1%EpinephrineHcl respectively with paste were statistical different.2. AST level: The change tendency of the AST activity level and GCF changes showed consistency. 0.05%OxymetazolineHcl and normal saline recovered more quickly than 15.5%Fe2(SO4)3 and 0.1%Epinephrine Hcl.3. The satisfaction of the three groups in the tooth preparation,impression,the edge of the prosthesis,the difference was not statistically significant(p>0.05).Conclusion:1. All gingival retraction materials can cause reversible gingival damage, which can recover at 10 day after retraction. Fe2(SO4)3 caused acute inflammation ,needed to decrease the concentration when used in clinic.2. The paste caused lighter inflammation, but recovered slowly ,which related with its retraction method,having no damage to periodontal tissue, the patient feeling no significant pained, shorter operating time.3.Compared with Expasyl,the wire of gingival retraction materials general easy caused gingival inflammation, which 0.05%OxymetazolineHcl had moderate performance.4. The effect of five gingival retraction materials was similarly.5. All gingival retraction materials could prevent to bleed with the sulcus ,maintaining sulcus clean?dry.
