Objective: This study by observing the effect of pressing and kneading Taibai acupoint for the treatment of lumbar muscle strain(Cold-Dampness type),evaluate its feature objectively and study on the mechanism preliminary in order to provide effective and practical method for lumbar muscle strain(Cold-Dampness type).Method: 60 patients with lumbar muscle strain(Cold-Dampness type)meeting inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups:control group who were treated by massage therapy,treatment group who were treated by massage therapy and Taibai acupressure,30 patients in each group.According to their treatment,Two groups will be treated once a day,every treatment for 20 minutes,a course of treatment including 5 times,for 2 consecutive treatment sessions.Before and after treatment,two groups were assessed respectively.The evaluation index were Patient Symptom score and Chinese Version of Oswestry Disability Index(CODI).Results:(1)The comparison in the group: two groups of the Patient Symptom score and CODI score before treatment and after two courses of treatment were tested by paired t test and results were statistically significant(P < 0.05).(2)The comparison of efficacy in two groups:after the treatment,the Patient Symptom score and CODI score changes of two groups were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Control group and treatment group were able to reduce patient symptom scores and improve back function.But the treatment group in reducing the symptoms,relieving back pain,improving the function of the waist and the quality of life of patients were beter than the control group.
