BackgroundWith the rapid development of social economy, the deepening of reform and opening up,the process of the medical informatization, the introduction of large medical equipments and the development of the advanced medical technology,we not only see the common applications of medical charge system, computer network management system and medical information processing systems, but also witness the widely use of MRI,CT,DSA in hospitals.Information technology is also used to improve the teaching and scientific research standard in medical teaching and research areas.Information technology provides a new cognitive method and working mode for medicine.Information technology is used in the area to improve the traditional methods and make innovations.Patients have a new understanding and higher requirements of the conditions in health care, the patients’ legal consciousness have strengthened and the protection of patients’ privacy has been paid more attention in China.Meanwhile, the number of patients taking interventional operation is increasing. There are many large medical equipments(such as DSA、CT、MRI)and a great number of image data are collected in the interventional operation rooms.Private parts of the patient’s body will be properly exposed during the operation, privacy not only involves the patients’ body privacy, but also involves a large amount of image data.Patients taking interventional operation are belong to a special group, whose protection of privacy has become the focus of public opinion. The cases on exposure of privacy of the patients taking interventional operation have emerged in recent years, which means a new challenge both for the medical staffs and the law.Nowadays, doctors and patients relationship has been tense gradually,And the problem of patients’ privacy has arose, which led to many medical disputes. Most of the recent leaks of the patients’ privacy are due to the imperfect legal system, the lack of attention of medical institutions and patients’ weak consciousness of protection of their privacy. Therefore,it is necessary to improve patients’ legal consciousness of protection of their privacy, improve the management of medical organizations, establish a proper legal system, pay more attention to the management of health information and improve the medical staffs’ awareness in the pro-cess of interventional operations. These are the main measures protection of patients’ privacy in the process of interventional operations.A series of improvements should be carried out in the hospital on the basis of the previous measures to protect the privacy of patients,.Objectives(1)To explore the status of the protection of privacy of patients taking interventional operation in the perspectives of medical staffs.Protection of the patients’ privacy provide theoretical basis and references for medical institutions to improve the situations.(2)To explore the status of the protection of privacy of patients taking interventional operation in the perspectives of the patients and the relative,to provide evidences for the improvement of the protection of patients’ privacy.MethodsBased on the analysis of operational process,we analyzed the exposing ways of patients’ privacy, found out the potential risks of the leakage of their privacy, and designed options of the questionnaire. We conducted a network survey and on-site questionnaire survey to the medical staff working in the interventional operating room in 3-A hospital in China.Subjects involved the patients taking interventional operation, their relatives and the medical staffs(including the interventional doctors, nurses and technicians). We used the questionnaire to explore the patients’ views and their relatives’ opinions of the privacy in different interventional procedures and explore medical staffs’ measure took in the interventional operating room to protect the patients’ privacy. The results were analyzed with SPSS 16.0 software.Results(1)Patients’ weak consciousness of protecting their privacy was an important factor forthe privacy leaks.(2)The staffs’ ignoring of protection of patients’ privacy in interventional operating roomwas the direct factor for the privacy leaks.ConclusionAs a new technology, the application of the information technology in medical institutions brought new cognition, ideology and the manner of working. With the increasing application in medical field,it was changing the face of the medicine both in the breadth and depth. The use of new technology was not to reduce the responsibility, but to require more duty of medical staff. Most people were not familiar with the potential drawbacks and problems of information technology. The medical community was doing its best to the education. The information technology also put forward many new medicine ethics issues inevitably, and how to solve these issues was the long-term goal of the construction of medical informatization, the whole society needed to make a great efforts to achieve it.The investment funds were needed for medical institutions, and updating medical equipment hardware to upgrade the software system to satisfy the demand of the modern digital information continuously, accelerating the establishment of the construction of digital information in the operating room to prevent privacy leaks. The legislature valued privacy and establishes the laws of protecting the rights of patients’ privacy.Patients’ insufficient consciousness of protecting their personal privacy as well as lacking effective measures were the two elements causing the patient’s privacy leak.We needed to establish the behavioral norms of medical informationization and establish an objective and feasible standard for the protection of privacy. Therefore, patients should strengthen their awareness of protecting their privacy. The doctors and nurses should improve their professional ethics.Information technology brings unprecedented opportunities for medical development. It required hospitals to increase capital investment, apply advanced technology, upgrade the hardware system and software systems to prevent leakage of patient information. While we are enjoying the benefits of informationization,we should never neglect the ethical issues associated with it.Solving these problems will help medical informationization keep in a healthy direction and make better service for human health.
