Objective:Since the 21 st century, with the rapid development of social economy, and extremely riched material life, our diet structure gradually unbalanced and the pace of life accelerated, which lead a younger phase the incidence of coronary heart disease. Also, the prevalence of coronary heart disease and mortality showed a clear upward trend. Therefore,it becomes a public health problem needed to solve on the prevention of coronary heart disease, and diagnosis and treatment.Red blood cell distribution width(RDW)is a measure of erythrocyte size heterogeneity in the blood circulation, which was used to distinguish the anemia types. There are more and more researches on RDW and coronary heart disease and other cardiovascular disease since Felker firstly proposed,in 2007,that RDW and the prognosis of patients with chronic heart failure had a certain relationship. This study was to investigate the relationship between RDW and ACS,and the correlation between RDW and degree of coronary artery stenosis by analyzing the level of RDW in patients with different degrees of coronary artery disease. Methods:Collecting the patients diagnosed ACS in the emergency department of Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical University because of chest pain between January and October 2015.Detecting the level of RDW and compare the difference in two groups including the ACS group of 221 patients accepting coronary angiography and the normal control group of 50 patients also accepting coronary angiography. The ACS group were divided into UA group of 77 cases and acute myocardial infarction(AMI)group of 144 cases.then detecte their level of RDW and compare the difference.According to the Gensini score used to evaluate the severity of coronary stenosis,we divided the 221 positive cases of coronary angiography into three groups: ≤30 points,31-60 points,> 60 points. As mentioned above,we also detecte their level of RDW and compare the difference.Results:1.the RDW in ACS group(13.02±0.68)was significantly higher than the level of normal control group(12.62±0.38),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.And the difference between UA group(12.84±0.68)and AMI group(13.12±0.66)also showed statistically significant(P<0.05).3.There exists positive correlation between RDW and Gensini score(P<0.05,r=0.258).With the growing of Gensini score, the level of RDW was also increased, and the result of each two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05)except the difference between the control group and ≤30points group.Conclusions:1.RDW may be an independent risk factor of ACS.2.RDW was correlated with the severity of acute coronary syndrome, and could be used as a reference index in the diagnosis and clinical risk stratification of acute coronary syndrome.3.There was a positive correlation between RDW level and Gensini score, which suggested that RDW could be used to evaluate the severity of coronary artery lesion.
