Objective: As a new approach,laser has been applied to oral medicine gradually.It has a unique advantage because of its characteristics.The purpose of this paper is to report the cases of laser in the treatments of dental and pulp disease.What’s more,by compared with conventional therapies,to evaluate the clinical efficacy of several commonly used lasers in oral medicine.Methods: Patients were recruited from the patients who need dental treatment in endodontics department of School and Hospital of Stomatology,Fujian Medical University from December 2015 ~ March 2016.First of all,make a clinical diagnosis by clinical test.Choose the best type of laser,and develop the treatment programs.Inform patients of laser treatment related matters.After the treatment,patients were followed up regularly.Evaluate the efficacy of laser through the patient’s own experience,clinical symptoms and signs.Results:1.Er: YAG laser used in pulpotomy can stop bleeding instantly and disinfect the pulp.It’s easy to operate.In the case of hard tissue removal,the treatment with Er: YAG is painless.2.Nd: YAG laser can achieve the desired clinical efficacy in cutting soft tissue,as its hemostatic effect,high efficiency and gentle reaction after operation.3.Photo-activated disinfection(PAD)disinfects the soft dentine in the deep layer of caries so that it’s reserved.The risk of pulp exposure decreases.In single-visit root canal treatment and root canal retreatment,PAD can clean the root canal and promote Periapical tissue healing effectively.Conclusion: The application of laser in the treatments of dental and pulp disease can achieve satisfactory clinical effect.Compared with the conventional therapies,it has its unique advantages,but its long-term curative effect remains to be observed because of the limited follow-up time.
