| Objective To investigate effects of intrauterine growth retardation on ampulitude integrated electroencephalogram in monitoring term infants;To explore effects of the different percent of birth weight on ampulitude integrated electroencephalogram in monitoring small for gestational age(SGA)at term newborns.MethodsAll small for gestational age at term newborns included in the study were divided into3 groups according to the percent of birth weight,less than 3 percent group,3 percent to 5 percent group,more than 5 percent,were defined as the group 1,group 2,group3,some term infants for gestational age were as the control group,was defined as group 4.35 people in every group.All the a EEG recordings were continuously monitored within 72 hours after brith according to informed consent.The duration of each recording was at least 2 hours.At the same time recorded the general situation of each group during hospitalization.The scoing system and brain function monitoing was used to evaluate the results of all infants.The score of continuity voltage,the score of sleep-wake cycle,the score of low bound voltage,the score of width and the total score were analyzed to determine the difference of neonatal cerebral function development between groups Results1.Comparing the score of Apgar of 10 min,gestational age,birth weight between groupsthe score of Apgar of 10 min and the gestational age between the SGA group(group 1,group 2,group 3)and AGA group(group 4)had no statistical diffence(P>0.05).The birth weight of SGA were(2215±273g),the birth weight of AGA of term infants were(2853±291g),had statistical difference(P<0.05).The birth weight of group 1,group 2,group 3,group 4 had statistical difference(P<0.05).2.General situation of the mother of SGAFor hypertension,multiple pregnancy,abortion,placental and umbilical cord abnormalities,there were statistically significant between groups(P < 0.05).For cholestasis syndrome,smoking,there were no statistically significant(P>0.05).3.General situation of each group during hospitalizationThere were no statistical difference in the length of recover to birth weight and in decline percentage of weight between SGA groups and AGA group(P>0.05).There were statistical difference in the average length of orally administrated,parenteral nutrition between SGA group and AGA group(P < 0.05).In the SGA group the incidence of feeding intolerance,infection and polycythemia were higher than AGA group,with statistical difference(P<0.05).4.The results of brain function monitoring in each groupThe result of group 1 was worst discontinuous,without maturen sleep-wake cycling,with most wide of width.The result of group 2 was less discontinuous,immature sleep-wake cycling,with less wide of width.The result of group 3 was discontinuous,better sleep-wake cycling,with narrow of width.The result of group 4was continuous,mature sleep-wake cycling,with more narrow of width.The score of continuity voltage,the score of sleep-wake cycle,the score of low bound voltage,the score of width and the total score were statistical diffence between all groups(P<0.001).The score of continuity voltage,sleep-wake cycle,low bound voltage,width and the total score of group 1 were less than group 2,group 3 and group 4(P < 0.05).The score of continuity voltage,sleep-wake cycle,low bound voltage,width and the total score of group 2 were less than group 3 and group 4(P<0.05).The score of continuity voltage,sleep-wake cycle,low bound voltage,width and the total score of group 3 were less than group 4(P<0.05).Conclusions1.The mother who have the history of hypertension,pregnancy,abortion,placental and umbilical cord abnormalities and pregnancy were the risk factors of SGA.2.The length of orally administrated,parenteral nutrition in SGA group were longer,the incidence of feeding intolerance,infection and polycythemia were higher in SGA group.3.Compared with AGA cerebral function,the developmental maturity of SGA is backward.The maturity of cerebral function was related to the percent of birth weight,the lower percentile of birth weight,the poorer maturity.4.The a EEG examination is an effective method for early assess maturation of cerebral function of SGA,and has good clinical application value. |
