| Right to life of fetuses is a topic that has in for a long term attracted the concerns of scholars both at home and abroad.Scholars of conservatism,liberalism and eclecticism have interpreted the issue of right to life for fetuses in different ways,of which conservatism is against abortion behavior while liberalism points out that abortion behavior is part of individual human rights,and eclecticism approves selective abortion.The focus of controversy among scholars lies in that if the fetus should be regarded as human or not.After explaining human from perspectives of biology,psychology and sociology,definition of the connotation of human should pay more attention to the essential level of social relation.From the aspect of sociology,fetus should not be regarded as human.Since the stage of fetus is only the origin of human’s life,fetus is only potentially existing human and the logically possible human,which could not be termed as human in practical sense.Nevertheless,we could make it clear that although fetus is not a true human,it contains the potential value to become a human.Therefore,fetus should not be simply categorized as accessory to the mother or simple living body.Life value of fetus requires to be treasured,which is also a kind of respect towards human’s life dignity.In dealing with the problem of abortion,it is needed to properly treat the relation between fetus’ s life and other rights by combining with other rights.It is also required to properly handle relations between fetus’ s right to life and mother’s right to life,fetus’ s right to life and mother’s reproductive right,fetus’ s right to life and national population policy etc.Currently,considering national long-term interests and sustainable development,our country sticks to the family planning policy and seeks to coordinate fetus’ s right to life with other interests,improves people’s acknowledgement of giving birth,which has laid emphasis on and explained the topic of fetus’ s right to life in a correct manner. |
