Clinical Research Of Acupuncture Combined With Thunder-fire Moxibustion On The Treatment Of Knee Osteoarthritis(Yang Deficiency And Cold Coagulation Syndrome)

Purpose: This research adopted two different therapies : acupuncture combined with thunder-fire moxibustion and electroacupuncture,to observe and to contrast the curative difference from these two different therapies in treating the clinical symptoms of knee osteoarthritis(yang deficiency and cold coagulation syndrome),and then to provide theoretical basis and clinical guidance for the prevention and treatment of knee osteoarthritis with yang deficiency and cold coagulation syndrome.Method: Selecting 70 patients of knee osteoarthritis(yang deficiency and cold coagulation syndrome)that conforming to Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and inclusion standard,and randomly dividing them into thunder-fire moxibustion group and electroacupuncture group of 35 cases,during the treatment,thunder fire moxibustion group fell off of 3 cases,and observed 32 cases actually,electroacupuncture group fell off of 2 cases,and observed 33 cases.Thunder fire moxibustion group used thunder fire moxibustion combined with acupuncture,and electroacupuncture group received acupuncture with electroacupuncture,two groups were both treated 1 time a day,and taken 1 day off after 7-day treating,and treated 28 days,one course in total.After the 1 course of treatment,the VAS(Visual Analogue Scale Score)pain scores,the pain scores in WOMAC(The Western Ontario and Mc Master Universities)Osteoarthritis Index,stiffness scores,functional activity scores,WOMAC scores and curative effect of knee osteoarthritis from the two groups were evaluated.Results: 1.before the treatment,two groups of patients’ gender,disease position,age,disease duration,VAS pain scores,pain scores,stiffness scores,functional activity scores,WOMAC scores were not statistically significant(P>0.05),the baseline data were comparable in two groups;2.the comparison between before and after the treatment of VAS pain scores,pain scores,stiffness scores,functional activity scores,WOMAC scores was statistically significant(P<0.05)of the two groups,so did the comparison between the two groups after the treatment.3.the two groups for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis(yang deficiency and cold coagulation syndrome)both had good curative effects,the total effective rate of thunder fire moxibustion group was 93.75%,the electroacupuncture group was 76.76%,the comparison of curative effect was statistically significant(P<0.05)between the two groups;conclusion: thunder-fire moxibustion combined with acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapy both can improve the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis(yang deficiency and cold coagulation syndrome),and both had good curative effects,but the thunder fire moxibustion combined with acupuncture was more effective.
