Background:Ovarian cancer is a common gynecological cancer, accounting for 4%to 24%of gynecological diseases. The incidence of ovarian cancer is second only to uterine body cancer and cervix cancer, ranking third, and its fatality rate accounts for the first place among gynecological tumors[1,2].Malignant tumors of the organs outside the ovary are metastasized to the ovary, which is a metastatic ovarian tumor. The incidence rate is low, accounting for 10%to 30%of malignant ovarian tumors,of which ovarian metastatic tumors from the gastrointestimal tract account for a large proportion[3].Ovarian metastatic tumors from the gastrointestinal tract are of poor prognosis.Early diagnosis and timely and effective treatment are of great value in improving the five-year survival rate of patients[4].This article retrospectively analyzed clinical, pathological, and CT imaging data from patients with ovarian metastatic tumors of the gastrointestinal tract,in order to explore the correlation between imaging performance and tumor pathological type and tumor origin, and to improve the accuracy of ovarian metastasis imaging diagnosis. Objective:To evaluate the application of CT scan in diagnosis of pathological types and origins of metastatic ova-rian tumors, and to guide clinical diagnosis and early treatment of atypical gastrointestinal primary tumors to improve their prognosis. Methods:Clinical data, histopathological results and CT images of 43 patients with pathologically-proved metastatic ovarian tumor were retrospectively analyzed.Diagnostic values of CT imaging for pathological type and origin fo metastati ovarian tumors wer evaluated. Results:The pathological types of metastatic ovarian tumor were related to the size of the lesion(P<0.01),while not related to the sites of lesion(unilateral or bilateral),the cystic-solid and mixed lesions with or without separation(all P>0.05).Metastatic ovarian tumors of colorectal origin were usually unilateral lesions, and showed cystic or cysitic-solid masses, while those of gastric origin were usaually bilateral lesions, and showed solid or solid-based masses. Conclusion:CT imaging may be of value in diagonisis of the pathological types of metastatic ovarian tumors derived from stomach and colorectal and the judgment of the origin of metastases, which is helpful for the early diagnosis and treatment of occult gastric and colorectal primary tumors.
