The teaching of Chinese characters has always been the hardest point of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.The reason why it fails comes to the fact that Chinese character system is complicated and that it lacks of proper Chinese characters'textbook.Textbook is the teaching guidance,in order to improve the quality of teaching, to build Chinese characters teaching system,we must rely on textbooks.Currently,there are many Chinese characters'teaching materials in teaching Chinese as a second language on the market, including independent type of Chinese characters materials and auxiliary materials attached comprehensive textbook, has meet the students'needs of learning Chinese characters.Most of the foreign Chinese characters'textbook are universal,that's to say a textbook translate into various languages version, does not take into account the different language and culture background of the countries of the Chinese learners, lack of pertinence.This paper selects two textbooks published in foreign Chinese characters, "Easy Way to Learn Chinese Characters" and "A Key to Chinese Speech and Writing" (referred to as the "textbook" and "Enlightenment" in the following passage). A comprehensive comparison and analysis from several words, teaching arrangement, teaching design. The two book in Chinese characters and species selection of degree is high, but has many differences in the part of the knowledge distribution of Chinese characters, strokes, components, order of strokes, the whole characters teaching and practice arrangement:the "textbook" knowledge points scattered in each lesson, and "Enlightenment" will focus on knowledge points the introduction; Classification of strokes very carefully in "textbook", has a multitude of names, and stroke classification is more simple in the "Enlightenment"; "textbook" make a careful explanation about component, and "Enlightenment" only show the component in introduction intuitively; "Textbook" show the Chinese characters stroke in form and print,"Enlightenment" use the handwritten form; "Textbook" use the Chinese characters theory as the starting point of teaching, "Enlightenment" use situation; The type of exercises in "Textbook" are plentiful, the exercises in "Enlightenment" are novel and interesting. "Easy Way to Learn Chinese Characters" is the teaching Chinese characters on behalf of the domestic publishing textbooks typically focus on words, the knowledge of Chinese characters is abundant and detailed; A Key to Chinese Speech and Writing" is an excellent teaching material in European cultural circle,particularly emphasis on the cultivation of communicative competence. This paper studied those characteristics,summarize and analyze their respective characteristics of the two textbooks. Finally, analyzing of the previous chapters, this paper discusses the problems and the insufficiency of two textbooks,and aimed at these questions to discuss how to optimize the teaching material compilation.
