This is a translation report on the academic paper titled “Applying Task-Based Learning to translator education: Assisting the development of novice translators’ problem-solving expertise”,which mainly focuses on the use of TBL(task-based learning) in translator training programs. This report, taking Skopos theory as its foundation, makes an in-depth investigation into the source text, the translation difficulties and the optimum solutions. As the theory believes, the purpose of translation tasks decides the ways to render the source text, be it literal translation, free translation or other ways of translation. Academic paper belongs to informative text. To translate a text of this kind, one should explicate the reference and concepts of the source text and make the TT as concise and simple as possible. Following this principle, translation tactics, such as addition, omission, conversion, sentence splitting, etc, are employed so as to address the translation challenges like long sentences, terms, logic and etc, and attain an adequate readability for translators or other related personnel who are doing translations between Chinese and non-English languages and have difficulty in reading an English academic paper. It is hoped translation of this kind can help upgrade translator training in China.
