| This paper explores the promotion of the cultural images for historical towns and villages via integration of visual elements. On the basis of analyzing measures to protect and develop historical towns and villages in China, this paper investigates methods of improving cultural images. It mainly illustrates extraction and integration of visual elements in terms of historic culture, natural environment, architectural styles and customs and traditions in historical towns and villages. Besides, design techniques were integrated to shape the visual image and to promote the transmissibility, infectivity and penetrating power of it so as to improve the cultural influence. Moreover, by taking Yujia Stone Village as an example, this paper further explains the role that visual element integration techniques play in upgrading the cultural image. It also points out the important status of visual element integration in solving the problem of declining cultural images of historical towns and villages. The paper concludes that the cultural image will become complete and explicit via the design method of visual element integration, which is beneficial to cultural transmission and promotion and brings about added value as well. This paper is significant for inheriting cultures in those towns and villages, and in publicizing, promoting and developing those historical towns and villages. |
