EQUIS Standards&Criteria is compiled by EFMD as a guidance to assess the quality of executive education. The applicant organization who wants to be accredited must satisfy all the EQUIS quality standards. In order to have a better understanding of the standards, the School of Economics and Management of X University entrusted the author to translate the English version of EQUIS Standards & Criteria into Chinese. The report is just composed based on my translation practice. The report is made up of four major parts: the task description, procedure description, the case analysis and the summarization. The first part offers an overview of the task description, including the task background and the feature of the original text. The second part describes in detail the task preparation, translation process and proof-reading. This part also demonstrates that the “adequacy” of understanding the source text and the “acceptability” of the target text are the key factors that the translator should take into account in the process of translation. The third part is the case analysis. Through the case analysis the author expounds the fact that the adequately understanding of the source text is the foundation to render the text correctly, and that the acceptability of the target text is the means to ensure the quality of the translation. The author also explores the methods that adopted in translating the accreditation text as EQUIS Standards & Criteria. The last part is the summarization. The author hopes that this report could provide valuable ideas for the translator in doing translation of accreditation texts.
