The Study Of Facial Expression’s Trustworthness In Different Incidents Situations

Trust plays a very important role in people’s social life,the research of trust which has never stopped in psychology.Different experts had studied trust from many angles,draw a lot of conclusions to elaborate the causes of trust or propose models of trust building and development.Due to the complexity of trust,there are many factors can affect it,such as trust propensity,culture,risk and so on.Among them,facial expressions,as a kind of important and special material,had not been enough research.This study took college students as subjects,and selected the happy,neutral and sad faces in Chinese Facial Affective Picture System as the experimental materials,exploring the influence of facial expressions and incidents on trust.In experiment 1,the trustworthness of the faces was evaluated.In experiment 2,we explored the influence of expression on trust and whether there was an interaction between facial expressions and profit incidents on trust in the case of distant social distance,by presenting faces and incidents.In experiment 3,we explored the influence of expression on trust and whether there was an interaction between facial expressions and incidents without benefit on trust in the case of distant social distance with the same process in experiment 2.Through a comprehensive discussion across experiment 1,2 and 3,we got the following conclusions.(1)The effect of facial expression was significant on trust.It means that people always trust happy face more than sad face.(2)The effect of incident was significant on trust.People tend to trust positive incidents.(3)The interaction effects of expression and incidents on trust was significant.People are willing to trust to positive incidents(gain,happiness)using happy expression and negative incidents(loss,sadness)using sad expression.(4)It could increase the trustworthness of people who epresses incidents with appropriate facial expression.
