A Research Of Picture Superiority Effect On Learning Directed Forgetting Lists Under Attention Switching Situation

Directed forgetting, also known as forgetting directly or intentional forgetting,it’s a new paradigm in the study of memory and a potential function of the brain, which emphasizes forgotting intentionally and directionally; The picture superiority effect is that in the learning stage showing pictures than present words are more easily to remember,a large number of studies has proved that, the directed forgetting effect and the picture superiority effect are exist. This is a research of picture superiority effect in learning directed forgetting lists under attention switching situation,adding attention switching factors, after attention switching,some of the projects become the focus of attention, others are not.In the experiment1, we randomly assigned 60 college students to four groups, resulting from a 2(learning material type: image / text) ×2(learning materials situation: focus and non focus) ×2(instruction type: R/F) mixed design, experiment 2 assigned 64 college students to four groups, the design is same with experimental1,the different is in experiment 2,the learning-test materials type is not same. The results showed that:(1) people pay more attention in the focus materials,and the recognition performance is better, forgetting degree is lower;(2) when the study-test material properties are same, directed forgetting effect has proved, non attention focus materials appear the picture superiority effect;(3) when learningtest material properties are not the same, the directed forgetting effect and the picture superiority effect has proved under attention switching situation.According to the above results: when learning-test type changes,the processing depth has changed,people pay more attention to the focus attention of material, which also changed the directed forgetting effect degree and the picture superiority effect...
