The Effect Of Contextual Change For Directed Forgetting

In this study, we tried to discussed the effect of contextual change for directed forgetting by measuring the recollection in different context. We investigate it in the imagination context and physical context.Experiment 1 makes a consistent of learn and test scenarios, select 120 college students as subjects, divided into no imagination task and imagine familiar B situations group, using 2 × 2 × 2 three-factor mixed design. It was found that, in the case of the external situation does not change, the coding imagine familiar context B weakened the cost of directed forgetting and do not get the benefit of directed forgetting.Experiment 2 makes a consistent of learn and test scenarios, select 60 college students as subjects, makes all the participants imagine a different context, joint experiment 1 imagine familiar context B of task to makes a 2 × 2 × 2 three-factor mixed design. It was found that, in the case of the external situation does not change, imagine the different context offsets the “F” weaker than imagine familiar context B, however, they are not get the benefit of directed forgetting.Experiment 3 makes a inconformity of learn and test scenarios, selecting 120 college students as subjects, divided into no imagine task group and imagine familiar context B group, using 2 × 2 × 2 three-factor mixed design. It was found that, imagine the familiar context B not only resist the forgotten cased by external situation change, still can resist the forgotten cased by F intruction. It offsets the directed forgetting effect.Experiment 4 makes a inconformity of learn and test scenarios, selecting 60 college students as subjects, makes all the participants imagine a different context, joint experiment 3 imagine familiar B situation of task to makes a 2 × 2 × 2 three-factor mixed design. It was found that, in the case of the external situation change, two different imagination task of directed forgetting effect difference was not significant, they are not produced directed forgetting effect.Comprehensive four experimental results confirmed that imagine another context can offsets directed forgetting effect and affect the cost and benefit. In addition, the change of external context had no effect on the no imagine task group for directed forgetting effect.
