In Chinese,"gei" is a rather complex word in terms of both function and usage;in terms of word class,it can be not only verb but preposition and auxiliary word,in terms of function and usage,it appears in different syntactic positions with the alteration of word class.Verb "gei",which means causative,is usually used in spoken language, however, analytic studies on sentences with "gei",meaning causative are very limited. The text is aimed at inspecting the associative function of sentences with "gei",which means causative and the acquisition situation of students studying abroad, and it is hoped that this paper could provide certain aids for student studying abroad to learn the word "gei",which means causative. The introduction part in the first chapter mainly introduces the research status of sentences with "gei",which means causative in fields of ontology and teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and then clears the main purpose of the topic:in order to solve problems concerning "gei",meaning causative, when acquired by student studying abroad. The aspect of ontology mainly summarizes the related research results of scholars on "gei",which means causative from three perspectives of the origin of "gei",which means causative, position of "gei",meaning causative,in the word class of render and sentence forming condition of sentences with "gei",meaning causative. In the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, problems occurred when students studying abroad acquired causative words and they have no idea of the order of "gei",meaning causative, acquired and suggestions given by related scholars are mainly summarized from three perspectives of the universality of give-meaning verbs used as cause marks, research on relative errors of "gei",which means causative and teaching Chinese as a foreign language:"gei",meaning causative. The second chapter studies structure of sentences with "gei",meaning causative and the relationship between related components, the comparison between "gei","rang" and "shi",and the sentence forming condition of sentences with "gei",meaning causative is discussed.By collecting and sorting ontology corpus,we find six formats of sentences with "gei"meaning causative. The text analyzes the components of the six formats from syntax and semantics, coming to a dicision that a sentence with "gei",which means causative could be formed on condition that compositions in the format must conform to a semantic feature of NP1,NP2[+people][+with purpose];V2[+action][+NP2act][-result].The third chapter studies the acquisition situation of student studying abroad on sentences with "gei",which means causative;the text makes a rather detailed analysis on the correct and false example sentences of student studying abroad.Correct example sentences mainly involve four formats of NP1+gei+NP2+V2+(NP3);NP1+ba+NP3+gei+NP2+V2;NP1+V1+(NP3)+gei+N P2+V2;NP1+ba+NP3+V1+gei+NP2+V2,students with no grade use "gei",which means causative more than students of other grades.Errors of student studying abroad when using "gei",meaning causative, mainly concentrate on "gei","rang" and "shi",in addition, there are also problems like the lack of "gei",which means causative, and the overlapping error of V2,and the cause of the errors are analyzed.Chapter four studies relevant circumstances of settings of "gei",meaning causative,in two sets of teaching materials:New Practical Chinese Reader and Chinese Course, and find that sentences with "gei",meaning causative are both refered to in the two teaching materials, however, only"gei" being used as causative meaning is only briefly introduced in New Practical Chinese Reader, and there’s no mention of it in Chinese Course. In view of this situation, the text gives certain suggestions on the compilation of teaching materials and teaching design from the angle of the acquisition of student studying abroad.
