Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn ((?)) is a famous Russian novelist, playwright, who is controversial due to the work with a certain political tendency. Solzhenitsyn opened the "labor camp literature" precedent and show the unknown side of Russian society to the world. The real description of real life in his works reflects the shortcomings in the society. The revelation of the ugly phenomena in the society has sounded the alarm for the people. So Solzhenitsyn is recognized as a writer who does not compromise and tell the truth. The writer opposes the domination of human by power and the cover of truth. He is credited with "the conscience of Russia" by the Russians. The theme of the writer’s work has never been divorced from Russia, so some say that he is a writer with a strong Russian plot."Cancer Ward" is Solzhenitsyn one of the most outstanding works and the fame in the West. The topic of "Cancer Ward" has a certain significance. The author presented that the problem of cancer in the human body, like the evil system in the community, is fatal. The story of the novel is not complicated and character relationships are relatively simple. Each character is derived from real life and is the story of the hero. In the works, the author mainly molds two kinds of opposing characters:the beautiful characters of human nature, such as positive exile-The Kadmins, white angel-Mita and Dontsova; the ugly characters of human nature, such as:jockeyed tricky pragmatist-Rusanov, compromised person-Shulubin. The writer expresses his love and hatred through shaping different types of characters in the works. This novel, which depicts the life of cancer patients, actually shows the writer’s call for humanity and criticism of ugly human nature. At the same time, the work also exposes the serious consequences of the expansion of Soviet revolutionary, suggesting that the political persecution caused some people distorted. Works "Cancer Ward" clearly reflects Solzhenitsyn’s "human" deep concern, the real writing of the "human nature", and the sincere call for "human goodness". Through the study of human nature in the works of "Cancer Ward", we have a deeper understanding of his works meaning and influence. The praise of human nature and the weakness of human nature in Sow’s work "Cancer Ward" have some inspiration for people at the time of the Soviet and today’s society.The paper consists of three parts:Introduction, the body including three chapters and conclusion.The introduction briefly describes the life and creation of Solzhenitsyn, introduces the research status of Solzhenitsyn’s novel "Cancer Building" both at home and abroad, and briefly explains the meaning, content, and methods of the research.The main body of the paper consists of three chapters. The first chapter expounds the concept of human nature. Human nature is different from the nature of animals. Human nature which is generally consistent with ethical standards is good and beautiful. However, human nature which is not in line with the moral standards is evil and ugly. The second chapter describes and analyzes views of human nature based on four kinds of characters including the optimistic, the egoists, the people with professional beliefs, and the people who give up everything:Human nature has both good and ugly side. They can be transformed into each other under certain conditions. The beauty and kindness of human nature are the best way to save people’s heart and cure the dark society. It is the best noble goal of a human. At the same time, the third chapter analyzes the factors that shape the Solzhenitsyn’s view of human nature based on his family background, social environment, experience of life and religious belief.The conclusion is summarized as follows:"Cancer Ward" is the result of the author’s reflection about that era, and the author’s attempt to think about the nature of human nature. In addition, the conclusion of the paper also puts forward the foreground of the study on the religious side in "Cancer Ward".
