By the end of 2014,the number of China's higher vocational college students has reached more than 10 million.Compared with students in ordinary colleges and universities,vocational college students who are in pursuit of diversity and individuality now usually feel inferior in their study and life and the causes of inferiority are very complex.This paper aims at studying higher vocational students' inferiority problem to further understand students' inferiority situation.Furthermore,it studies and analyzes not only some factors closely related to the vocational students' inferiority,but also the relationship between these factors.It is expected that results of the study will make inferiority much more positive and less negative in their life and study,further promote the development their physical and mental health,and enhance the personal competitiveness,employment capability,social adaptability and innovation consciousness as applied talents.Scholars have been very rich in the study of inferiority problem,and also come to a lot of valuable conclusions.But for this special group----students of higher vocational colleges,the research on the reasons for the inferiority has higher academic value.Nevertheless,the former study subjects are mainly the students from ordinary colleges and universities,not from higher vocational colleges.Previous studies have confirmed that the causes of inferiority mainly include two aspects: objective social factors and subjective individual factors.In view of the present study situation of higher vocational students' inferiority problem,combined with the affecting factors of inferiority experienced during daily teaching process and class work,this paper chooses key self attribution factor from subjective individual ones and key social support factor from objective social ones.By adopting questionnaire investigation method with 300 vocational school students from three public vocational colleges as the research objects,and using the sense of inferiority scale by Meng Chia hung,MMCS by Lefooutand and other people,and partly revised social support rating scale(SSRS)based on the basic and actual situation of the students,this study can measure the present state among inferiority,self attribution and social support,aswell as their differences in demographic variables.On this basis,the following conclusions are obtained through the detailed analysis of the relationship among them:1.The level of higher vocational students` inferiority feelings has not reach the immediate value as a whole,namely,the students have no serious inferiority problem.But the survey results also show that part of them really has a sense of inferiority,accounted for 5.7%,which should arouse our attention.2.For vocational college students,there are significant differences between inferiority feelings and attribution styles on the two demographic variables of grades and professional levels.The details are presented as follows:(1)The scores of higher vocational college students' appearance inferiority dimension vary greatly on the grade level,and the scores of their personality inferiority dimension vary markedly on the professional level.(2)Self attribution dimension in grades and professional levels is different.Ability attribution dimension scores are different in professional levels,while effort attribution dimension scores is different in both grades and professional levels.3.The relationship among inferiority,self attribution and social supportThere is significant correlation in some dimension among inferiority,self attribution and social support.Among which,the correlation degree between inferiority and social support is much higher than that between inferiority and self attribution.Four parts are included as follows:(1)There is significant positive correlation between the scores of each dimension of inferiority and self attribution ability,attribution dimension,success attribution dimension,failure attribution dimension and internal attribution dimension.(2)There is significant positive correlation between inferiority dimension of social skills and support application dimension,subjective support and social support total score.There is negative correlation between inferiority feelings of development,appearance,learning experience,family love,personality and each dimension of social support.(3)There is significant negative correlation between ability attribution,successattribution,failure attribution,internal attribution and subjective and objective support score and support bioavailability.(4)Social support and self-attribution have a strong interpretative capacity for inferiority complex.Social support plays a partial mediating effect on self attribution and inferiority complex.
