It was a change stage about the development of preface in Tang Dynasty. The poetic preface of Tang Dynasty carried forward the Wei and Jin Dynasty, it had features as well. The Four outstanding poets of Early Tang Dynasty had the assignable effect on the development of poetic preface. In this paper, the object of study is the poetic preface of the Four outstanding poets of Early Tang Dynasty. There are four chapters in this paper to analyze the problem.The first chapter summarize the development of preface,there are three stages of the development.The second chapter has three parts.The first part is the contents of poetic preface, the second part is the category of poetic preface,the third part is the characteristics of poetic preface.The standard of category is the authors of poems.The third chapter analyze the cultural implication of poetic preface.There are two parts in this chapter.The one part is cherishing time,the other part is the contradiction between seclusion and be an official.The chapter analyze the reason and development of these two parts.Pursuing hermits occupies a very important position in their prefaces.The historical background and the career experiences affect their poetic prefaces.The fourth chapter has two parts,the first part analyze the sentence,the second part analyze the relationship of emotion and nature.Poetic preface was the vehicle of social events between scholars,and thevehicle of academic viewpoints.Their prefaces were parallel prose,and there were some prosaic sentences in their prefaces.This was the development of the poetic preface.
