The Application Of Documentary Photography In Public Welfare Advertising Posters

Since photography was invented,images have undertaken the function of recording reality.The first permanent photo,Window at Le Gras,recorded the scenery outside the studio of French Joseph Nicéphore.Although in the current era of information explosion,the forms,contents and equipment of photography are all changing,the documentary nature of photography never fades away.Compared with painting,photography is truer and easier to completely and precisely reflect the reality.Therefore,photography is widely used to record great events,figures,wars and turmoil,to reflect the reality.In addition,photography is applied to create visual experience,such as advertisements.One of the presentation forms of public welfare posters is photography.This thesis mainly researches the categories of print welfare advertisements and tries to figure out the relationship between documentary photography and public welfare advertisement posters.It is concluded that compared with general photography,documentary photography can better reflect reality.Hence,applying documentary photography into public welfare advertisements can directly touch people’s hearts,truly reveal the authenticity of the theme and enhance the persuasiveness.This thesis tries to analyze documentary photography and how documentary photography is applied in public welfare advertisements.Then based on domestic and foreign development situations,it is expected that documentary photography and public welfare advertisements can be better combined to serve society and people as well as make some achievements for Chinese public welfare advertising cause and socialist construction.
