The Study On Adverbs Of Hengyang Dialect And Its Sentence-completing Capability

Researches on dialect adverbs are more and more popular in recent years,most of scholars are focus on the description and characterization of syntax semantic and pragmatic.Although previous scholars have researched in Hengyang dialect adverbs,but they only simply list and describe a single adverb or a single category,the systematic study on Hengyang dialect adverbs has not been found yet.This article takes the adverbs of Hengyang dialect as the object of study,shows a panorama of Hengyang dialect adverbs on the basis of overall investigation,and studies some characteristic adverbs in Hengyang dialect from the aspects of semantic features,syntactic structure and pragmatic functions.Based on the previous research,the article further investigates the capability of adverbs of Hengyang dialect to form sentences,and makes some explanations for its sentence-completing capability.The dissertation consists of 5 chapters:The first chapter is introduction.Firstly,we begin by introducing the geographical features,humanities and historical evolution of Hengyang.Then,we briefly reviewed the theoretical background of this research,including previous researches on sentence-completing and adverbs.Finally introduced the methods and significant of this thesis,moreover,we described phonetic system of Hengyang dialect.The second chapter is a detailed description of Adverb system in Hengyang dialect.In this chapter,we classified the adverbs in Hengyang dialect based on the definition of adverbs and clear criteria of adverb classification.Then,we exhaustively enumerated each category of adverbs,selected some characteristic adverbs from each category as research object,and reveal characteristics of Hengyang dialect adverbs by describing semantic features,syntactic functions and pragmatic functions of these characteristic adverb in detail.The third chapter is mainly about the investigation on the sentence-completing capability of adverbs in Hengyang Dialect.On the basis of the investigation and conclusion of the previous chapter,in this chapter,the sentence-completing functions of each category of adverbs Hengyang dialect are investigated one by one according to the basic sentence formula.We also analyzed the type of the self sufficient sentence that adverbs played the vital role in the process of transforming,and make a preliminary analysis of the reason of its sentence-completing result.The fourth chapter,we try to make a study on the Cause and motivation of adverb's capability of forming declarative sentence which in Hengyang dialect.This chapter exploring the motives of the sentence-completing capability from three aspects:grammar,semantics and pragmatics.In particular,focus on the relationships with verb valence and adjective valence,and combining the theory of "bounded" and"unbounded" in cognitive linguistics to explain it,what's more,we make a certain analysis from the perspective of information theory.Finally,we draw a conclusion.This part summarizes the capability of adverbs in different types of subject predicate phrases,and points out that the adverbs which have sentence-completing capability also have the function of expression,measurement and judgment.Finally,puts forward the inadequacies of the article and the problems that need further study.
