This is a practice report on Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting(SI)with text based on a Practice Report on Interpreting for the Third International Forum on Secondary Education in Hebei Zhengding High School.The participants include five secondary school principals from the UK and US as well as four Chinese principals.Focusing on three Chinese principals’ speeches,this report mainly discusses the challenges and solutions of the interpreters on SI with text.This report develops in four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of this interpreting practice and mainly introduces the background,features and requirements of this task.The second chapter deals with the implementation of this task including pre-interpreting preparations,interpreting and self-evaluation for the interpreting practice.It also illustrates different kinds of challenges during the interpreting.The third chapter is the analysis of different cases.In this part,it mainly discusses the implementation of Gile’s effort model,as well as syntactic linearity and simplification strategy during the Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting(SI)with text.It also discusses the interpreting of the ancient poetry.And the last chapter,as a summary of this interpreting practice,emphasizes the importance of the pre-interpreting preparations and points out the problems.
