In the urban narrative of contemporary Chinese literature,Nanjing is most likely to evoke the classical imagination of China.And this imagination is present different characters in the works focusing on the subject of city of Ge Liang,who is a young author born in Nanjing.As one of a new generation of Chinese writers,Ge Liang has plural cultural identities and multi-cultural experience,which affects potentially and directly his writing about Nanjing.Ge Liang's literary works about Nanjing inherit and develop the narrative tradition of classic Chinese novel and the classical humanist tradition about quality of a city as well as spirit of people.In addition,from a perspective of transition,his works exceed the already existing writing model about classic imagination,presenting an appearance both traditional and modern between city and people.Therefore his works fully embody the significance to succession and reconstruction of classical tradition.Meanwhile his works about urban narrative inherit the theme of "returning to native place" of classical literature,looking for his own and regional identity and position.This article attempts to regard experience and identity as focal point,analyzing the access to and practice of traditional experience,by a combination of a literature character "cultural transition".Also this article tries to analyze emphatically manifestation of text-narration and figure's spirit in inheritance and development of classical tradition from the framework,techniques and content for the writing.And what we should pay more attention to is the possible imperfection of the figure of Nanjing,which is imagined and constructed in works with his distinct personality.And the reason of the possible imperfection is the incompletion and limitation of his identification,as well his potential purpose of writing.
