This is a report on the translation of the book How to Meet Her Parents.In the book,the author puts forward his advice on what the unmarried men should take into consideration for the first meeting with the parents of their girlfriends.The translation project is to translate Chapter 1 to Chapter 13 of the book under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s text typology theory.The book belongs to the vocative text.Though it seems easy to understand in general,how to reach the vocative function in the translation is a great challenge to the translator.This report is to conclude the difficulties and solutions in the translation,explore how to translate the vocative text,and enhance the readability of the translation.Apart from attaching great importance to the translation of the title and sub-titles,the translator has analyzed how to understand the sentences accurately,achieve natural translation and guarantee the frequency.On the word level,the translator illustrates how to translate the repeated words,idioms and set phrases.
