The author selects the second and fifth chapters of the environmental conservation book We are the Weather: Saving the Planet Begins at Breakfast for translation practice.Based on the translation practice,a practice report is written to explore the guiding significance of communicative translation theory to informative text and vocative text, summarize the translation techniques of this kind of text and help Chinese citizens more intuitively understand the current situation of climate change and realize the urgency of environmental protection,so as to further promote the effective implementation of China’s environmental protection policies. The language of this book is plain and objective, with close logical connection, most long sentences and complex sentence structure. In the book, the second chapter mainly belongs to informative text and the fifth chapter primarily belongs to vocative text.To some extent, communicative translation theory should be adopted to guide translation. The author mainly analyzes the guidance of communicative translation theory to this translation task from the lexical and syntactic levels. At the lexical level, addition can be adopted in order to make the meaning and the logical relationship clear;omission can be used in order to make the language concise and not wordy;conversion can be employed in order to make the sentence smooth without obvious translation cavity. At the syntactical level, combination can be adopted in order to make the text holistic;division can be used in order to conform to the characteristics of Chinese emphasizing parataxis;inversion can be employed in order to conform to the syntactic structure and word order of Chinese.
