Serial Verb Sentence is one of the special modern Chinese grammar pattern.It is not only an important part of Chinese grammar,but also a difficult part for foreign students to learn.Even though Thai grammar also has the serial verb sentence applied to daily life,each language does have its own unique points.Therefore,for Thai students who study Chinese,studying Serial Verb Sentence would not be an easy task.They would always face problems of wrong usage for the Serial Verb Sentences.Nowadays,more people started to pay attention to Chinese Serial Verb Sentence studies,but less in comparison studies.Especially the comparison studies between Thai and Chinese Serial Verb Sentences.Therefore sufficient researches and documents must have been gathered before conduct the research of Thai and Chinese Serial Verb Sentences,analyze the wrong usage problems among Thai students,including comprehending problems in studying Chinese Serial Verb Sentence(both important and difficult parts).I have conducted the studies of Chinese Serial Verb Sentences as follow:Preface,I have explained about the origin of this topic(the provenance of problems),the objectives,concepts,research methods and conclusions of related research.Chapter one,I have compared the difference of Serial Verb Sentence in both languages through three methods: In context,in structure and in class of Serial Verb Sentences.In conclusion,definition of Serial Verb Sentence,in both Chinese and Thai,is verb phrase of more than two words in the same sentence,cannot have punctuation.The Serial Verb Sentence of both languages shows patterns of action sequences.Chapter two,In this research,I have conduct the research among second year students of Khon Kaen University,to fully understand ability state of Thai students when learning Serial Verb Sentence.Chapter three,I have analyzed results from surveys to identify the cause of wrong usage.The process of analysis has been divided in two portions as follow;The subjective: Influence from students’ first language,Chinese language learning abilities of the students and effects from incorrect learning methods.The objective: Influence from studying environment,Influence from lecturer and influence from learning materials.Chapter four,I have suggest a teaching strategy,adverting the cause of wrong usages among the students.Due to studying ability of the students,lecturer must fully understand about proper usage of Serial Verb Sentence in every dimension,teaching style and the correction of wrong usage towards the students.I have applied different methods and different angles to conclude the result of this research.I highly wish that this research will prove a valuable resource to conduct Chinese classes for foreigners.
