Parliamentary debate has long been regarded as an important tool for oral English and critical thinking in English teaching and learning. However,it has not been incorporated into interpreting teaching and learning by now. This research tends to shed light on the positive impact of Parliamentary debate on the interpreting competence of interpreters. The methodology in this research is quantitative analysis. The author carried out an interpreting test between two groups of students majoring in English and analyzed performance of the two groups. It is found that the experimental group, students who have been practicing BP debate, outperformed the control group, students who have not practiced BP debate. The author believes that this research can not only provide interpreting learning a new tool, but also a new reference standard to the selection of potential interpreters.Due to various reasons, the author admits that there are some limitations about this research and it is the author's sincere wish that this research can serve as a spur for other researchers to contribute their deeper researches to this area.
