As the core process handicraft production institution of the palace,the"zaobanchu" of the Qing Dynasty enjoys a high reputation during the history of Chinese arts&crafts,which generates discussions and researches among the scholars.However,most people still understand little about the way artisans who created the diverse art wares working and living.As zaobanchu stroke up a nationwide process handicraft production network,more and more artisans accessed the palace and turned into the work.They can display their talents in the best,owed to zaobanchu adopted a flexible management pattern which mainly included the method officials planned as a whole and the method artisans assisted in the management.Besides,on account of the Qing emperors zealously pursuing their passion for the arts,the palace artisans were treated for kindness in some respects,such as raising their wages and concerning their lives,which provided the material guarantee that the artisans could be absorbed in enhancing their skills.This article is based on the zaobanchu archives and related historical documents and sources,attempt to explore the organization and management of zaobanchu、the lives and achievement of the palace artisans.
