The Development In Mastering Mandarin Language Vocabulary For Beginner Students In Hasanuddin University Using TPR (Total Physical Response) Method

TPR is a learning method proposed by Professor James Asher.The idea of this approach is to link language and behavior.This can arouse the students' interest in learning,so that they are more likely to remember the contents of the class,and able to receive better result in learning.This paper discussed the application of systemic reaction method to design the primary students in Hasanuddin University Chinese teaching curriculum,curriculum design that can be provided to learn content(Daily vocabulary)and then arrange the content system,according to the principle of systemic reaction to design practice.That design can mobilize the primary students learning Chinese.For example: action teaching,game teaching,music teaching and situation teaching.This paper focuses on the teaching practice,and the author hopes that through this kind of classroom design,it has a positive inspiration on how to use the TPR(Total Physical Response)method to teach the students in primary class.In this case,the author conducted this study to understanding the problem that occurs in the students and how to help them master the Chinese vocabulary.The author used TPR method.The students can learn Chinese in the process of activities.In this research,the author conducted this study to know the problems occur to students of beginner level of Mandarin language learning in increasing Mandarin vocabulary.The author applies the TPR method(Total Physical Response)so the students can learn Chinese language while performing physical movements at the same time.The conclusion of this research is the TPR method can meet the needs of learners in the vocabulary learning process.The implementation of this method in Chinese language classes can stimulate students' motivation to learn vocabulary.In addition,this method helps students to memorize vocabulary.Therefore,the Total Physical Response method can be used for mastering Mandarin vocabulary.
