A Report On The Translation Of The Future Of Nursing:Leading Change,Advancing Health(Excerpts)

Recently,with the development of society and increasing living standards,people begin to pay attention to a variety of medical and postoperative care and their requirements for medicare is getting increasingly high.The United States owns a more mature and advanced medical care system,especially in the development of nursing education and nursing model innovation which are far above that of other countries.The nursing experience of the United States,therefore,can be a precious reference for China.Consequently,the translation of medical care texts in the United States can provide guidance for the development of medical care in China.What’s more,it can promote the continuous progress of our medical care industry.In this report,the translator firstly introduces the whole translation project,including the source,content and type of the text as well as the practical significance of the project;secondly,she gives a detailed description of the translation process by describing the pre-translation work,the translation process and post-translation review;and then,according to the guiding theory of “Communicative Translation”,the translator discusses how to avoid being “Translationese” during the translation process,with specific cases of vocabulary and long sentence translation;finally,the translation practice is summed up.Medical Care texts are informative texts so that the translation of such texts requires the translator to objectively and accurately express and deliver the original content and key information.In this report,the translator summarizes the translation process of The Future of Nursing: Leading Change,Advancing Health according to the "communicative translation" method under the guidance of Newmark’s "Text Function Theory",by analyzing cases of vocabulary and long sentence translation.To solve the problems in the translation,she chooses techniques such as splitting,amplification,phonetic conversion and flexible use of parentheses,so as to ensure the accuracy and fluency of the translation in an effort to avoid “Translationese”.
