A Report On The Translation Of The Three Articles On Climate Change Under The Guidance Of Translation Shift Theory

The 21st century witnesses the fact that we enter a new era of knowledge-based economy.Industrial economy is still important in flourishing the world economy.However,industrial development directly causes the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.Then,more and more discussions have been made on the real cause of climate change and whether or not.Human-induced climate change is serious.Hence,the translator wishes to provide reading materials for the target readership interested in climate change so that they can realize the importance of protecting environment.That’ s what Jonathan Franzen proposed in The Other Cost of Climate Change and Jerry Taylor proposed in What Will Climate Change Cost Us?and Water Pollution.After reading the three articles the author decides to use translation shift theory to discuss words shift and sentences shift.The report can be divided into five chapters.The first chapter is a description of the translation task.Then translation process is elaborated upon.The third chapter is an introduction of translation shift theory.The application of shift theory is in chapter four,which is the focus the report.In the chapter,the author of the report discusses four main types of shift,that is,level shift,class shift,structure shift and unit shift,all of which she adopted in the translation of the three articles.At last,she comes to the conclusion that the theory of translation shift is useful and makes a summary of the translation practice in question as well.
