"Survival" is the important theme in "Queen of Canadian literature" Margaret Atwood's creation.As one of the representative works in Atwood's later works,The Blind Assassin which won the Booker Prize not only has more excellent.artistic techniques,but also reflects the writer's survival ethics brightly.In the book,Atwood describes intergenerational relations,gender relations and sisterhood meticulously.The ethical writing in the novel stems from the writer's concern about the problem of"survival",which is of great significance to the understanding of the writer and the work.Therefore,on the basis of close reading,the thesis interprets Atwood's survival ethics implied and explores the deeper cultural connotation and the present value of the novel by means of ethical literary criticism combined with feminist criticism,biography and other theories.The introduction part introduces Atwood's works and achievements,and summarizes the main content and artistic features of The Blind Assassin,and sketches the research status of The Blind Assassin both at home and abroad,and illustrates the problems,methods and significance of the research concerning this paper.The first chapter mainly discusses the ethical disorder in The Blind Assassin from the angle of kinship,love and friendship.In literary works,the production of any ethical problems is often closely related to ethical identity.The ethical subjects do not fulfill the corresponding responsibilities and obligations,and make the behaviors contrary to the ethical identity.Thus,it not only is contrary to the ethical norms,but also leads to the emergence of contradictions and conflicts.In The Blind Assassin,the behaviors against the ethical identity destroy the established ethical order,so that intergenerational relations,gender relations and sisterhood present fractured,antagonistic and distorted.Considering the ethical disorder above,the second chapter points out and analyzes the corresponding solutions hidden in the work.Atwood tries to ease the intergenerational relations by caring and understanding,and reconstruct gender relations by pursuing true love,and restore sisterhood by self-examination and identification.Atwood describes the ethical disorder in the novel,but also tries to rebuild the damaged ethical order,which shows her survival ethic of harmonious coexistence.The third chapter discusses the value of ethical writing in The Blind Assassin in combination with the text and writer's survival ethics.Female and national survival has always been the ethical issues which receive Atwood's most attention.In the novel,Atwood reveals the survival dilemma of female and Canadian nation by describing all kinds of ethical issues.Superficially,the tragic fates of the two sisters are caused by family conflicts.However,the real culprit is the overbearing patriarchy.The business founding history of Chase family coincides with the development history of Canada since independence,which is the historical epitome of national survival.Atwood reveals the survival dilemma of female and nation in the novel,and the survival ethic of harmonious coexistence that she expressed has important implications for the construction of female identity and Canadian national identity.The conclusion part hackles and summarizes Atwood's survival ethics and the ethical writing in the novel.At the same time,this part also reaffirms the cultural connotation and practical significance of The Blind Assassin.
