In the system of ancient Chinese literary theory, "yuan" is a category of literary criticism which is not very prominent but has unique value, which has played an important role in the creation and criticism of ancient Chinese literature. "yuan" as a way of Chinese ancient literati to grasp the world, at first performance is a sense of transcendence, emphasizing beyond the specific distance to infinity, and later into the field of literature and art to characterize the profound and far-reaching ideas and the implicit implication Or "there is a rhyme" . It has different theoretical connotations at different times. This paper tries to explore the main aesthetic connotation of "yuan"category in ancient Chinese literary theory through the analysis of "yuan" in two aspects.From the horizontal, it is mainly to explore the "yuan" category of ideological origin, and its theoretical content of multi-dimensional presentation of the presentation. From the vertical point of view, mainly combing the "yuan" category in different stages of the specific use and rheological characteristics. Through this aspect comparison, we strive to achieve the "yuan" category of the theoretical connotation of the overall grasp and explore, so as to reveal its value in ancient literary theory and its practical significance.The first chapter starts from the semantic level of "yuan" category, discusses its significance in the process of development, and reveals how it gradually changes from semantic category to literary style of expression style and realm.
