A Translation Report On Gamestorming From The Perspective Of Newmark's Translation Theory

This paper is a translation practice report,which translates the first two chapters and part of the third chapter of a novel named Gamestorming.That novel was published by Dave Gray,who is the president of the famous company XPLANE.It contains eighty games,and game as a metaphor,to guide people how to creativity,innovation and extraordinary thinking training.Therefore,it has a certain value on how to deal with changes in the market,how to carry on the team cooperation for the enterprise managers.Newmark's text typology theory divides the text into different types,and proposes the corresponding translation theory according to different types of text.Among them,he puts forward the translation strategy of the communicative translation for the informative text.The text chosen for this text is belonging to the informative text,thus,the author takes the communicative translation theory as an instruction,and puts forward some concrete translation methods according to the problems in the translation process,such as the amplification translation,the omission translation,the separated translation,the combined translation and the negation to reach the communicative effect.It has certain feasibility for Newmark's translation theory to the translation of this kind of text.In addition,it has certain guidance and the practical significance for the translation of this kind of text.This report is mainly composed of five parts.Firstly,it describes the translation task,briefly introduces the translation material,the purpose and meaning of the selected materials and characteristics of the text;secondly,it reviews the translation process,which includes the preparation before translation and the translation process of the task;Then it reviews the Newmark's translation theory and analysis of translation cases.It combined with Peter new mark the text type theory and the communicative translation theory,and analysis the specific cases in the text.The fourth part analyzes the problems in the translation process.Finally,it concludes the experience and limitations of the translation process.
