Many of Don DeLillo's novels express his concerns with ecological crises. He points out that the crises lie in mankind who take nature as subordinate.Studying Players(1977)White Noise(1985)and Cosmopolis(2003)as a combination from the perspective of ecocriticism helps to understand DeLillo's thoughts on man-nature relationship comprehensively.Taking natural, social and spiritual ecology into account, this thesis explores the depictions of silent nature, consumerist society,nightmare-like cities with mass media and robot-like human beings in the three novels.Since human consciousness plays a vital part in people's attitude toward nature, the final chapter briefly maps out some suggestions inferred from the texts for human beings to improve themselves and to reestablish a harmonious relationship with nature.
