| This thesis is a translation report based on parttwo of chapter three of Dish-Serving Dance—Banquet Etiquetteof the Yi People in NanjianCountywritten by Qin Ying.The work is a comprehensive elaboration of this primitive dance for banquet with a strong local color,including its origin,distribution,occasions,actions,music and development.Part two of chapter three of the work focuses on the whole procedure of the performance as well as its cultural connotation and relevant folk music.As the unique monograph on the theme of “dish-serving dance”,the work has anacademic value in the field of cultural anthropology and ethnology,and the ethnic culture exchange abroad.In this report,the translator tries to approach how to convey the etiquette with a strong national color as accurately as possible to English readers under the guidance of eco-translatology.It mainly consists of five chapters.Chapter one is a brief introduction of the project,including the background,purpose,significance and organization of the translation project.Chapter two is a description of the whole translation process with three main steps: pre-translating,translating and post-translating.Chapter three is key notions of eco-translatology,including its translational eco-environment,translator-centeredness,translation process and translation principle.Chapter four is case analyses,which mainly shows the methods,skills and some difficulties in translation and their corresponding solutions.Chapter five is a systematical summary to the report with the gains,limitations and suggestions in the translation.Translation is a process of continuous improvement,which requires the translator to explore the source text and its background carefully and deeply,and to put it into high-quality version with solid literal foundation. |
