Research Of The Translation Strategy Of Science And Technology English From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Science and technology English generally refers to the English used in the scientific work,papers,textbooks,science and technology reports and academic lectures in the aspects of natural science and engineering technology.Science and technology English has become a new specialized field of modern English in many countries.With the gradual deepening of the development of science and technology and global economic integration,English for science and technology is increasingly revealed its importance.Thus the demand for science and technology English translation is inevitably growing.This thesis is a report on the translation of science and technology English texts,mainly based on my translation practice on a science and technology English book.With special reference to the examples selected from Children’s Language Disorders,the author summarizes the characteristics of science and technology English texts,such as technical terms,large numbers of “It” sentence,considerable passive sentences,large numbers of clauses and long sentences.Under the guidance of skopos theory,especially the three rules of Skopos Theory,this translation practice aims to provide easy knowledge for ordinary Chinese people to read,based on this purpose the author comes up with some translation strategies.This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter 1 the literature review,the author made an introduction of skopos theory.Chapter 2,the science and technology English source text described features of science and technology English.Chapter 3,the translation procedure describes the translation process.Chapter 4 translation strategies described some translation skills used during the translation task.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of the thesis.
