Internal corporate rules and regulations reflect the culture and values of an enterprise.Although the expanding scope of translation study has included many types of text,the translation study on internal corporate rules and regulations is rare.This translation task is excerpted from the Handbook of Personnel Administration of an enterprise,which belongs to normative document of regulations.The main purpose of the translation task is to offer an English version for the employees with foreign nationality,so that the employees can have a better understanding of the internal corporate regulations and rules.This translation task was finished under the guidance of Skopos theory.During the process of translation,the translator followed the intratextual coherence rule,and summed up kinds of problems into two categories: the normalization of the target text and the acceptability of the target text.As for the translation of some law terms,form names,and certificate names,the translator tried to have the target language normalized through consulting some reference books.Besides,the translator applied some techniques such as omission,annotation,transliteration,free translation to let the target text be understood by the target readers when dealing with the translation of the terms with Chinese cultural features.All of efforts the translator made are aimed at achieving the intratextual coherence of the target text.That is,making the target text meaningful and acceptable to the target readers in the communicative situation of the target language.Both form and content of this type of text are representative among enterprises in China.The significance and objective of the report are intended to provide experiences and references for further translation studies on this type of text,meanwhile,to promote the spread of internal management culture of Chinese enterprises.Inevitably,there must be some shortcomings in the translation report.Here the translator is in the hope of getting some corrections from relevant authorities.
