The Connotation Definition Of Spiritual Coping And The Development Of Spiritual Coping Scale And Its Clinical Application

This study consists of four parts: Using qualitative and quantitative research methods,construct an dying dignity model and a Spiritual Coping model through conducting semi-structured interviews with patients of cancer and religious and non-religious people.Compile a Spiritual Coping scale according to the constructed theoretical models;And finally we come to the application of the Scales,namely we apply the Spiritual Coping scale to the cancer patients group in order to test the reliability and validity of the compiled scale,and explore their present situation.Explore the connotation of Spiritual Coping through the Grounded Theory to set up our own model about the connotation of Spiritual Coping;and test the reliability and validity of the compiled Scales through the methods such as experts' judgement,evaluation of legibility of subjects,analysis of items and analysis of factor,and the "Spiritual Coping scale" consisted of 17 items.Test their present situation through the analysis of the data by descriptive statistics,t-test,variance analysis and other statistical method.The main results are as following:(1)The connotation model of Spiritual Coping includes four dimensions and they are: mysterious experience,moral practice,meaning exploration and detached mentality.(2)The Spiritual Coping Scale has 17 items,which accords with all the requirements and has good reliability and validity.(3)Spiritual Coping shows significant differences in gender,religious belief,educational background and age.(4)The clinical test result of the Spiritual Coping Scale is perfect and its reliability and validity accords with the statistical standards.Spiritual coping shows significant difference in religious belief,educational background,chemotherapy or not and understanding of illness conditions.
