The Study On The Decoration Of Liao Tombs In Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

The paper is based on the issued meterials of Liao Tombs’ decorations in BeijingTianjin-Hebei region.By studying the results of the previous research,the paper try to make discussion of the theme,characteristics and location relationship of tombs’ decoration in the area through the archaeological typolog and the method of cultural factors analysis,to make contact with the culture at the time and reflect some aspects of the local social customs,thus helps further grasp the social characteristics of Liao Dynasty.Firstly,the paper analyzes the general situation of Liao Tombs in this region and bases a total classification of them with decoration as the basis for the study.Secondly,reorganize and analysis the decorations according to the location.The decorations are classified into 3 sorts as follows:Door of the grave: usually brick-based,due to the size of the copy wood structure;Wall boundary: the largest category,mostly murals,prominent theme features,have a strong relationship between each other,and often can form a certain combination;Top half: the star atlas are most distinctive.Thirdly,the analysis of the overall distribution of the decoration in the tombs is carried out and the history,geography and cultural psychology of the decorative style are studied.At the same time,the information about the social style that can be reflected in the typical themes to explore.Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in Liao Dynasty is an area where the minority and central civilization mixed.Due to historical reasons,the majority of residents is Han nationality,and for the separated national policy of Liao,the region’s ethnic integration isn’t obvious,especially in funeral customs,rarely the traces of Khitan seen.In contrast,religious influence maybe more obvious.The paper hopes that through the study for Liao Tombs’ decorations,the related discusses can be better-builded and be an additional for its history.
