| In recent years,American films,especially animated films have been popular in China with a big amount of American films imported.Their humorous plots are loved by Chinese audience.Between China and the US,the humorous plots are an important bridge in cross-cultural communications.Excellent subtitle translation can help target audience cross the barrier of language and enjoy the art of film abroad.However,as a new area,the study of subtitle translation of animated films is very limited,even the study of verbal humor.Both subtitle and humor have complicated features and cross many disciplines.The study on them need abundant acknowledge and broad scope.This thesis tries to analyze and conclude the problems in the process of translate humor subtitle in American animated films,and compare the different translation version and sort out the humor translation strategies.The domestication and foreignization theory was put forward by Schleiermacher and developed by Venuti.This thesis is based on this theoretical framework.The writer gives a analyze on 15 animated films of America and their Chinese official translation.The humor translation are analyzed from five dimensions,they are word repetition,word change,cultural rhetoric,and network hot words.The thesis gives the priority to the domestication than the foreignization in translating humor subtitle of American animated films.There are four translation techniques often adopted: words adding or reducing;word class changing;English sentence structure changing into Chinese structure etc.Two reasons domestication is preferred: as the language receivers,the target audience’s watching pleasure is the priority;as an important approach of the pop culture communication,animated films should be closely correspond to the target language’s culture. |
