Bao Yuankai is a famous contemporary composer and music educator.He devoted himself to the exploration of traditional music.His works are not only loved by the Chinese,but also go abroad and are welcomed by foreign professionals and listeners.In his works,the "Chinese and western blend" of Chinese flavor is interpreted in the western style,which is typical of "Chinese Sights And Sounds" and is the starting point of "Chinese wind" series.As the second part of the music creation series of Bao Yuankai’s "Chinese wind",the "Symphony Sketches of Taiwan" is a feature of "Chinese and western blend" in both form and content.it is not the "copy" of the Taiwan version of "Chinese Sights And Sounds",but based on the adaptation of the original folk song,and the original work occupies half of the whole suite,which is what the composer saw and felt when he was in Taiwan.Therefore,"Symphony Sketches of Taiwan" is a combination of original and adaptation,and a combination of depicting and expressing.Bao Yuankai’s adaptation of folk songs in "Symphony Sketches of Taiwan" kept his melodic development in the "Chinese Sights And Sounds",while his original works expressed his feelings in various ways.He actually achieved the creative idea of "people write,write people,write for people".Bao Yuankai’s unique and creative ways of writing can not be ignored for the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional music and minority music.Based on the traditional music analysis method,this paper combines two modern music analysis methods: pitch-class set theory and schenkerian schematic analysis theory.At the same time,I also use the part of the theoretical results of "structuralism" to analyze the micro-structure elements of works.The main content of this thesis consists of five chapters.The basic structure is as follows:The first chapter is a brief introduction to the artistic achievements of Bao Yuankai and the background of the "Symphony Sketches of Taiwan";The second chapter is about the macro structure of the work and the humanistic background of the music.On the one hand,the macro structure refers to the structural division of the "starting and closing" of "Symphony Sketches of Taiwan" in the later period of Bao Yuankai,while the other refers to the musicalstructure type of each movement.In accordance with the order of the music in the composition,I conducts the analysis of the structure of the works one by one.At the same time,I also gives a brief description of the humanistic background of the prototype folk songs used in the music;The third chapter is the analysis of the tonality,chord structure,chord progression,and counterpoint of the work,which summarizes the characteristics of music creative technique in the works;The fourth chapter is the use of Jia Daqun "structure" theory of music structure elements of cognition,taking the four major characteristics of music as the logical point,this paper analyzes the detail features of the works from four kinds of microstructure elements: rhythm,pitch,timbre and intensity;The fifth chapter is a summary of two artistic characteristics of the national folk and the contemporary blend reflected in the works,as well as the author’s enlightenment from it.The ultimate goal of music analysis is to inspire music creation.I summarizes the artistic features of the works through the analysis from the macro-structural framework to the micro-structural elements.Through the study of the works and the summary of these artistic features,I gained a lot of inspiration about music creation while thinking about the development of traditional music.
