Obejective:Core strength has the function of stalilizing the center of gravity,maintaining balance,and strength transmission.Belly dance is an exercise in which the whole body moves with music.In this study,belly dancers were used to discuss the impacts of belly dance on core strength and core stalility.Methods: 41 belly dancers were divided into two groupes,with 27 in belly dance group and 14 in control group.All participants were healthy,without any experience of belly dance before and exercise injuries.Training time were 14 weeks,once every week with 70 minutes.Core strength and core stability inedxes were measured before and after the experiment.SPSS were used in data analysis.Results: 1.There were not any significant difference inindexes of core strength and core stability before and after the experiment.2.Compared with before experiment,indexes of core strength and core stability improved significantly in belly dance group(P<0.05,P<0.01).3.Compared with control group,indexes of core strength and core stability improved significantly in belly dance group(P<0.05,P<0.01).4.Compred with befored experiment,indexes of core strength and core stability did not changed significantly in conrtol group.Conclusions: 14 weeks of belly dance training can improve the core strenght and core stability of female university students.
