A Report On The Interpreting Project Of 2017 China Tour Of St. Petersburg State Children Ballet

In July 2017,the St.Petersburg State Children Ballet was invited to China for a 37-day national tour.The author was responsible for escort interpreting.The author accompanied the China tour all the way and provided translation assistance for their daily life and performance.At first,the report describes the background and the process of this interpreting practice.Then,the author analyses the typical cases based on recordings.The report concludes the whole interpreting practice in the end.There are four chapters in this report.Chapter One introduces the background,client’s request and characteristics of the escort interpreting task.Chapter Two describes the interpretation process,including task preparation,emergencies happened during the task,task implementation and evaluation of the escort interpreting practice.Chapter Three,the main part of this report,is mainly about the possible solutions to representative typical cases during the interpreting process by using translation strategies,such as amplification,conversion of cultural images,division,mistranslation and omission.Chapter Four is the conclusion of the whole interpreting practice and the author describes some problems and relative thoughts in this practice,as well as inspiration and prospects in future study and work.
