A Report On The English To Chinese Translation Of Controlling Robots In The Home:Factors That Affect The Performance Of Novice Robot Operators

The rapid development of science and technology has broadened the channels for human communication along with the scope of communication.The translation of EST(English of Science and Technology)texts is crucial for the exchange between China and foreign countries.Meanwhile,it also enhances the progress and development of science and technology in China.Mechanical English is an important part of EST.This report is based on the translation practice of Controlling Robots in the Home: Factors that Affect the Performance of Novice Robot Operators.As an emerging sub-discipline,the development of robotics has had a significant impact on industrial production,national defense and the entire national economy as well as people’s lives in many countries.This report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the background and significance of this translation practice.Chapter two briefly analyzes the source text of the translation practice.The third chapter is a detailed description of the translation process,including preparation,the difficulties encountered in the translation process and proofreading.In the fourth chapter,from the lexical and syntactic perspectives,the author offers some examples to discuss the difficulties in the process of translation.In the final part,the translation strategies used in the translation process and the weak points are summarized.
