Children's literature(CL)as an dispensable component of literature hasn't received as much attention as it deserved in the past.Only in recent years, thanks to growing emphasis on children's education, the status of CL is becoming higher and higher. An increasing number of foreign CL works are translated into Chinese.Different from adult literature,CL has many distinctive features in the aspects of phonology, lexicon and syntax. And so does CL translation.Although the quantity of CL translation improves, the quality is at various levels. The studies on CL translation are still relatively few and are limited in some theories including Reception Aesthetics,Functional Equivalence Theory and Skopos Theory. Therefore, this thesis studies CL translation from Eco-Translatology,a new perspective, hoping to enrich CL translation theories and to guide CL translation practice. This thesis aims to explore factors that influence translators' adaption and selection in the translational eco-environment of CL translation,to figure out how translators make the adaptive selection and to find out the vitality of different versions and the possibility of their co-existence.Through quantitative study and qualitative study, this thesis comparatively analyzes three Chinese translations of Charlotte's Web under the guidance of Eco-Translatology and finally finds out that in translational eco-environment,factors like economic environment, language and cultural environment, social and political environment, translator's competence, target readers, language and style of CL translation can all influence translator's adaption and selection in linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension.Meanwhile, different versions can co-exist because they serve for different translational eco-environment.Each version is the fittest and survives in its own translational eco-environment,and different versions can co-exist in the whole ecosystem of translating.
