Aiming at improving students' emotional state in learning and their learning ability,the "Input and Output" English Learning Method was put forward in Xuzhou,Jiangsu province in 2013.This method refers to taking students' autonomous learning as the main learning style,the cooperative learning as the main teaching organization form,"input and output" as the orientation of the students' learning style and the basic requirement of achieving learning goals.The author,as a high school English teacher in this region fully participated the implementation of this new method at high school.This thesis first presents an action research on the implementation of the method in the author's school,then investigates its feasibility through questionnaires,interview and experiment.The research aims at finding answers to the following questions:Is this method applicable to high school English teaching?If yes,how effective will it be?Can it lift the students'emotional state?Can it improve students,language skills?After one term's action research,through the analysis of the pre-questionnaires,pre-interviews,post-questionnaires,post-interviews as well as the comparison of the test results of the experimental class and the control class,the thesis concludes that 1.This method is feasible and the effects are evident.The students taught with this method do have a better emotional state in learning.They are more interested in English learning,experience the sense of achievement and their anxiety in English learning is considerably relieved.The classroom atmosphere is much more lively;2.The students' language skills(language learning ability and test results)are improved.Compared with those in the control class,most of the students in the experimental class read the text and the learning plan independently,deeply,and preview the new lesson actively.Their involvement in group work is more active and positive.They are able to discover questions in their learning processes,and find the answers.In addition,the students' academic results in the experimental class are far better than those in the control class,as can be seen from the statistics of the series of tests.Despite the feasibility and effectiveness of the method,problems still persist.Reflections are made on the teaching as well as the research.
