English writing is one of the most important parts in English learning.English writing mainly tests students' comprehensive language skills.But different task-designing methods of English writing affect students' writing fluency to some degree.Based on Constructivism,this thesis studies the effect of different task-designing methods of English writing,such as the material-guided writing and the topic-assigned writing,on students' writing fluency.Thus,the result of study may contribute to teachers' choice of writing tasks.This thesis combines empirical research with document research.Students in grade two from Fuzhou No.18 Senior High School are chosen as the subjects of the teaching experiment and they are asked to finish the questionnaires.After the experiment,students' writings are analyzed with SPSS(13.0)to find their fluency.There are three indicators in analyzing the experimental data.They are the number of words,the length of sentences and the number of right words in clauses.The research draws three conclusions:(1)Different methods of task-designing of English writing in senior high schools affect students' writing fluency.And the fluency in material-guided writings is higher than that in topic-assigned writings.(2)Different methods of task-designing of English writing in senior high schools(such as the material-guided writing and the topic-assigned writing)have significant effects on the length of sentences and the number of right words in clauses,but they have little effect on the total length of students' compositions.(3)Compared with the topic-assigned writing,the material-guided writing can arouse students' interest in a better way and it is more helpful to inspire students'imagination.This might be one of the reasons why students have high writing fluency in material-guided writing.The result of this study will help teachers to give writing lessons more efficiently.Teachers can design writing tasks with the purpose of stimulating students' writing interest.Besides,the study can help teachers to cultivate students' creations and imaginations and improve their writing fluency.
