In conventional zinc hydrometallurgical process of oxidizing roasting-leaching-purification-electrowinning,zinc ferrite is unavoidably produced during the process of roasting zinc sulfide concentrate and hard to be dissolved in low acid leaching.A large amount of leaching sludge is not only a loss of resource but also a harm to environment.A novel method to dispose of high iron bearing zinc calcine by "reduction Roasting-leaching-magnetic separation" or"reduction roasting-magnetic separation-leaching"route was proposed and investigated in this paper. Some valuable results wereobtained as follows. After the reduction roasting using bituminous coal,The zinc ferrite(ZnFe204)in the zinc calcine was selectively decomposed to zinc oxide and magnetite, which is beneficial to zinc extraction by low acid leaching and ironrecovery by magnetic separation.it is obvious that the separation of zinc and iron is achieved by"reduction roasting-magnetic separation-leaching" process.separation" process, the results showing that iron content I was concentrated to 52%iron content II was concentrated to 49%.with 92%overall recovery.8.4%of the zinc was lost in the process. The optimum technological conditions are as follow:roasting temperature 800 ?,bituminous coal dosage 11%,roasting duration 45minutes,magnetic intensity 800G,magnetic separation duration 10minutes,granularity 450 mesh, eaching acidity 70g/L,leaching time 30min.under optimum technological conditions, the iron could be separated from Combination of zinc calcine.
